Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
On September 5, 2017, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) initiated the orderly phase out of the program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). DHS will provide a limited, six-month window during which it will consider certain requests for DACA and applications for work authorization, under specific parameters.Click here for important information.

Lawyer Referral Service

The Queens County Bar Association operates a Lawyer Referral Service where a prospective client may obtain an attorney in one of 25 areas of law. The referral is given out on a rotating basis, in order to maintain fairness. Panelists are skipped only when there is a special need, such as a requisite language. The attorney will charge $35 for up to one-half hour of the initial consultation. Any fees beyond the one-half hour are arranged between the client and attorney.
